Location: New York, NY US
When: Internship to start on June 01, 2018
Accepting Applications Until: June 01, 2018
Description:Our internships are an active working and learning environment, not the typical unpaid position that is so common in the industry.
Interns will train on and actively assist in all aspects of the product development process both on client work and studio jobs. Additionally they will undergo extensive direct training to develop and improve patternmaking, sewing, and technical technique.
Be ready to learn!
This would be an excellent position for someone interested in pursuing a career as a patternmaker, TD, or an independent designer looking to launch their own collection who wants to do their own development or at least have a thorough understanding of how the process works.
Interns work alongside patternmakers and stitchers on staff to learn industry methods and standards, and, time allowing, will have the opportunity to develop their own styles from concept to sample with active mentorship.
Requirements:The ideal intern is perfectionistic and meticulous, and has some experience with patternmaking, draping or sewing on industrial equipment and a demonstrated interest in working in the luxury fashion industry.
Responsibilities:Active areas of learning/working may include:
Patternmaking
Draping
Block development
Cutting
Sewing
Fitting on forms and live models
Pattern adjustments
Occasional small errands
Flat sketching on Adobe Illustrator
Schedule is flexible but we find that it benefits the candidate most to be in the studio at least 2 days/week.
Internships are unpaid but there is a huge potential to lead to paid freelance work, as we love to hire out of our pool of former interns whenever possible.
This internship is unpaid.
