Description:Shilo Byrd Studio is a RTW pattern and sample room serving the NYC fashion industry. Our clients range from independant designers showing at tradeshows such as Capsule and Magic to huge established fashion brands that show at NYFW.
Interns work alongside the principal patternmaker, principal samplemaker and freelance staff to learn industry methods and standards, and time allowing, will have the opportunity to develop their own styles from concept to sample with active mentorship.
Requirements:Our internships are an active working and learning environment, not the typical unpaid assistant position that is so common in the industry. Interns will train on and actively assist in all aspects of the product development process both on client work and studio jobs. Additionally they will undergo extensive direct training to develop and improve patternmaking and studio technique.
Be ready to learn!
The ideal intern is perfectionistic and meticulous, and has some sort of experience with patternmaking, draping or sewing on industrial equipment.
Responsibilities:Intern assignments will include:
Patternmaking, Draping, Block development, Cutting, Sewing, Fitting on forms and live models, Pattern adjustments, Occasional small errands, & Flat sketching by hand and Adobe Illustrator
