The Danes is a luxury womens wear brand - a top sell through collection in Bergdorf Goodman’s couture department everyday since 1993. Founded by Rachel Hall Danes and Robert Danes, a CFDA member since 1993. Best known for bias cutting and incredible unique built in corsets for many of the dresses and gowns. Although under the radar the last several years… The Danes collection has sold to many celebrities and has been featured in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, In Style, NYT, WWD, W and in international print and broadcast media.
Requirements:Some work experience in any customer service or design fields. On time, reliable, strong ( able to carry and lift a few dozen pounds occasionally) with knowledge of the subway and directions. A “ can do” attitude and understanding that fashion is hard work. The candidate should have good communication and organizational skills and the willingness to ask clarification questions. High school and or College graduates preferred. Other fashion related opportunities as well.
Responsibilities:Compiling production needs, shopping for notions, ordering and picking up textiles, linings and other production items. If intern’s marking skills are good, then working with the cutter and patternmaker on the cutting table with dressmakers may be possible. Deliveries and pick ups from retailers, clients, showrooms… rare opportunity to contribute and see all aspects of a growing niche designer company. Appreciation and knowledge of garment construction and fine craftsmanship and textiles is preferred. Attention to detail and casual professional presentation required. The workroom/ design studio is small and mighty.
