Oscar de la Renta Fur is looking for Design Internship
Oscar de la Renta is one of the world’s leading fashion houses. The fur collection is the most luxurious and exquisite feature each season. Our department is uniquely placed within ER Fur Trading LLC., a respected furrier that has been successfully in business since the 1940's. ER's clients include Sally LaPointe, Rodarte, Lafayette 148, and Prabal Grurung to name a few. This internship focuses solely on the design, construction and production of fur and leather garments. Our team is looking for dedicated individuals to assist and work alongside us during our busiest time of the year, the fall season.
Apparel design student or recent graduate needs to be available 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment with a very can do attitude. He or she must be adaptable and learn quickly. Most importantly, he or she must understand the standard of working with extremely fine materials and garments. Familiarity within the NYC garment district is a plus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in seasonal swatch creation
- Assisting in finishing: hand & industrial machine sewing, quality control, and cleaning of fur garments
- Assisting in pattern work: copying, altering, and creating patterns
- Assisting in fur production: sourcing, dying, and organizing materials
- Assisting in garment correction and inspection during a detailed quality control sessions.
- Assisting in studio management: organizing, cleaning, and helping replenish supplies
This internship is unpaid.
