Description:Maison Em is building a new kind of bridalwear experience, one that centers on ease, elegance, and self-expression for people who don’t see themselves in the traditional bridal space. We’re creating dresses for modern love stories: elopements, second weddings, intimate ceremonies, and everything in between.
We’re looking for a creative, hands-on fashion design intern to help explore new ideas and bring our early concepts to life. You don’t need bridal experience, just curiosity, creativity, and a strong eye for design and construction. This role focuses on experimentation, design development, and feasibility, helping to translate creative vision into something real, wearable, and effortless.
Requirements:This Role Might Be Right If You:
- Have 1 to 3 years of experience in fashion design, pattern making, dressmaking, or textile arts (students welcome)
- Love experimenting and thinking creatively about how garments come together
- Have hands-on sewing or draping skills and enjoy turning ideas into tangible prototypes
- Are detail-oriented, open to feedback, and excited to collaborate in a small, flexible environment
- Are interested in exploring how modern design can make bridal and formal wear feel more real, comfortable, and expressive
Bonus Experience:
- Basic Illustrator or CAD skills for flats or line drawings
- Experience with sustainable materials or creative reuse
- Knowledge of fit and construction for fluid or bias-cut garments
Responsibilities:Your Piece of the Puzzle:
- Collaborate closely with the founder to explore and refine three core dress concepts
- Share creative ideas and inspiration on silhouette, shape, and styling
- Build or assist with mockups, test garments, or pattern adjustments to evaluate feasibility and fit
- Research and experiment with fabrics that balance structure, drape, comfort, and sustainability
- Help document design iterations, notes, and feedback throughout the development process
- Participate in fittings or virtual design sessions (in-person preferred for Bay Area candidates)
- Offer insight into how designs could be simplified or adjusted for better wearability
- Collaborate on cost-conscious design decisions to help meet the desired price target without compromising quality
- Contribute to defining a low-barrier, small-scale production strategy that can grow alongside the brand
- Help shape the long-term product development roadmap and production processes: from first samples to small-batch manufacturing
This internship is paid.
