The Light and Leadership Initiative is looking for Fair Trade Fashion Designer
Huaywasi is LLI’s Fair Trade project that began as an extension of our Women’s Empowerment Program. We work with seven talented artisans in Huaycán, all of whom love learning new techniques and will likely teach you a thing or two, too! We're a close-knit team of both Peruvian and international staff and volunteers. We look forward working with you!
This position is perfect for you if you…
• Are passionate about sustainable and ethical fashion
• Are highly motivated by women’s issues
• Possess at least working knowledge of spoken Spanish and spoken English
• Are creative and artistic
• Have experience working in fashion or fashion design
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Art, Marketing, or other related field OR are in the process of obtaining your degree.
Responsibilities would include:
• Working with our lead designer to develop either our Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer line
• Oversee production, working alongside the artisans, of new products
• Improving the quality and efficiency of already existing Huaywasi products
..and more, depending on time commitment!
Please note: Interns are accepted all year round, however we are searching for an intern to begin September 2018 and again in January 2019!
This internship is unpaid.
