Jonathan Simkhai is looking for Design Intern
Jonathan Simkhai is a Los Angeles based women’s wear designer, having recently moved office from New York. We participate in New York Fashion week and show our collection on the runway twice a year.
In this internship, you will have hands on experience working alongside the design team helping with research, draping/sketching, product development, and possibly the runway show. We are a team of designers from various backgrounds with experience working in Europe and NY that can help mentor you in your design career.
College student or college graduate, can provide school credit
Commitment of minimum 3 days/week
Eager to work in a fast-paced environment
Proactive about contributing to the company
Fashion design or related major
Excellent time management and organization
Proficient in Adobe programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
Ability to interpret design intention into sample swatches (comfortable with hand and machine sewing)
Understanding of garment construction and pattern making
** For knitwear majors, we are also looking for a knit focused intern **
This is a very hands-on internship in which you will work directly with the designers on tasks that include assisting in inspiration research, development, pattern making, draping, sketching, and some administrative work. The internship will also include anything from artwork placement on patterns, to sourcing fabrics and running errands in garment district, and assisting the design team with any other number of projects.
– Working closely with Design Team on various tasks to prepare collections
– Assisting with all aspects of design process, including sewing, pattern making, flat drawing, etc
– Organizing binders/boards
– Creating technical illustrator flats
– Preparing design boards for presentations
– Preparing samples for fittings
– Assembling tech packs
– Organizing fabric swatches
– Researching design details
This internship is unpaid.
