ISSEY MIYAKE’s first collection was launched in New York in 1971 and began to be shown in Paris Fashion Week from AUTUMN WINTER 1973. From the very beginning Issey Miyake broke the boundaries between East and West and pursued to achieve a comfortable relationship between the body and the fabric covering it. Today, the House of Issey Miyake carries six different collections; ISSEY MIYAKE, ISSEY MIYAKE MEN, PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE,132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE, and HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE. Issey Miyake also upholds a well-established wholesale Business internationally and in the US, with an enviable list of major stockits including Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.
Issey Miyake would like to offer a summer internship to talented individuals who are genuinely interested in learning and working in a sales environment. If you enjoy working in a creative and fast paced environment, we would love to hear from you!
Internship Guidelines:
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Must be able to make a minimum commitment of 2 days per week
• Issey Miyake offers a weekly travel and food stipend
• The internship program's hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm
• The program is based out of our Manhattan, NY office
• This internship is unpaid.
Skills Required:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Analytical and detail oriented
• Punctual, dependable and positive attitude
• Exemplary organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Interest in the design and fashion industry
Responsibilities:
• Assist with data entry, issue invoice proformas and compile weekly sales reports
• Assist with sample management - sending samples out, tracking send out’s and returns
• Assist with creating Product Knowledge materials and other selling tools for WS Accounts
• Assist with prospecting and researching new wholesale accounts
• Accompany Account Executives on local store visits
• Assist with Misc. day-to-day tasks and special projects as needed.
Market Related Responsibilities:
• Organize showroom and merchandise collections
• Assist with creating selling books (line sheets, fabric swatches, etc.) and visual material
• Photograph collection samples during market
