Description:The Independent Project is a New York City–based multi-brand design and development studio. We provide brands with the external creative and technical infrastructure needed to design, produce, and scale their collections. Serving both men’s and women’s markets, our work spans concept development, sourcing, sampling, and production through to finished product.
Requirements:Strong interest in fashion design, development, and production
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive with a willingness to learn
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop required; InDesign a plus)
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a fashion design or related program preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced studio environment
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Basic understanding of garment construction, textiles, and production processes is a plus
Responsibilities:Assisting with sketch development, CAD creation, and presentation materials for client and in-house collections
Supporting fabric, trim, and material sourcing, including research and vendor coordination
Helping prepare for fittings, tracking sample development, and organizing production details
Assisting with tech packs, line sheets, and internal documentation
Maintaining organization of studio materials, samples, and project timelines
Contributing to daily studio operations and supporting multiple brand projects as needed
