Gigi Burris Millinery is looking for Design Intern
Gigi Burris Millinery is a NYC based accessories brand producing luxury hats, head pieces and hand bags. As a finalist in the 2014 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Competition and a member of the CFDA, the brand is rapidly growing on an international level. Gigi Burris is distributed at retailers world wide including Net-A-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Lane Crawford, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom Space. In addition to seasonal collections, the brand has collaborated with brands such as Brother Vellies, Brandon Maxwell, Baja East, Tanya Taylor, and Theory. Press features include American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, and Interview Mag and has been seen worn on celebrities such as Mahershala Ali, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna.
In University and able to receive college credit, ability to commit to at least one full day per week, basic Sewing Knowledge a must, eager, self-starter with the ability to take direction and work independently, ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast paced environment, have a discerning eye for detail and quality assurance, must be NYC based and able to navigate the city
Help with the production and send out of customer orders, assist studio assistant with organization and send outs of stylist/celebrity/publication loans, occasional Hand Sewing, assist with fabric research and development, visiting and liaising with factories, occasional navigation to and from garment district locations for production.
(PLEASE NOTE: This is an unpaid internship. Interns will be reimbursed through college credit, reference letter, and the opportunity to design and execute their own custom hat at the expense of Gigi Burris Millinery upon completion of internship.)
