Description:Hello! Chances are we like you already.
Future Meets Present is a start-up innovation company that designs sustainable products, systems, and events. Our first product is the Braceletote - a small tote bag that folds up into a bracelet. It’s a handy accessory that’s designed to replace single-use plastic bags during an urban commute. We are utility patent pending and planning to launch our first line in December.
We are looking for a product design intern with experience in textiles and an interest in sustainable fashion. The ideal candidate is excited to work on a solution to address plastic waste, comfortable with the startup process, and ready to bring a product to the world that’s the first of its kind. The goal of this role is to produce a single-unit prototype that satisfies user needs based on feedback.
You’re the right fit if you:
• Can sew single-unit prototypes to hand off to a small batch manufacturer
• Are excited by the iteration process
• Have a user-centered approach to design
• Are keen on supply chain sustainability and ready to source environmentally conscious materials
• Are down to earth, fun-loving, supportive, and collaborative
Requirements:• Sewing
• Working knowledge of garment construction
• Problem-solving abilities
• Active listening
• Sketching
• Design and trend research
Responsibilities:• Producing patterns and sample prototypes to be handed off for production (50% time)
• Researching + sourcing sustainable fabrics and materials (20% time)
• Creating mood-boards and inspiration for design concepts (15% time)
• Conducting user research, listening in on focus groups, framing user needs (15% time)
This internship is paid.
