Fragmentario is a natural dyes studio in Bushwick We teach natural dyes workshops, develop natural dye work for different clients and develop our own products using coloring plants. We recently showed our first apparel collection during fashion week in Paris last October dyed using only with avocado seeds. The collection will be launching later this year. Places where we have taught workshops include a a Film Festival in Italy, an Art Studio in Galicia, Spain, a concept store in Madrid, a zero-waste gastronomy institute in Barcelona and at lululemon lab in New York. This year we will be teaching workshops at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and a sustainable laundromat. Clients include: Pouch, a furniture design company; Alejandro Moreno, a NY based filmmaker. The intern will work closely with the founder and creative director assisting on many different projects (workshops preparation, working with clients, collection development, etc.).
- Punctual and with attention to detail - Curious mind and good attitude - Willingness to learn (no natural dyes knowledge necessary, but an interest is required) - Knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus - Student in textile design, fiber art, fashion design, product design or related field
- Research natural dyes and natural fibers sources and vendors - Update and organize natural dyes library, tech packs, etc. - Work with natural dyes vendors - Communicate with factory in the garment district and sourcing fabrics and trims - Light sewing and pattern correction - Others depending on the interests of the intern (social media, market research, etc.
