Description:Looking for a fashion/design intern for a start-up brand for women with curves: CurvedWear. Use your skills to create a unique and inspiring product that will impact women everywhere. The intern will help design new apparel and retail products, creating a prototype/sample from start to finish. This is a part-time internship for college credit or to fulfill graduation requirements. However, payment can be negotiable based on experience. The internship has a flexible schedule of approximately 15 hours per week. We will work with your school to offer college credit toward your degree, and can provide reference for future employers.
Our products will be made ethically with a focus on clean supply chains. One of our goals is to help women achieve equality, justice, self-confidence, and self-worth so they can focus on their own comfort and needs. To that end, our company will be donating a portion of its revenue to a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and women to run for office.
Requirements:The ideal candidate is
• In school getting a degree in fashion design, at least second or third year preferred
• Flexible
• A self-starter, willing to take on tasks that others don’t even know are needed or before being asked
• Able to work independently
• Able to communicate ideas clearly
• Not afraid to use his or her imagination and think boldly
Preference for candidates who are located in San Francisco. Los Angeles could also work.
Responsibilities:The responsibilities include
• General design, concept, and trend/market research
• Help with fabric sourcing
• Concept sketching (by hand or with software)
• Design, pattern-making, grading/marking, and sewing a prototype
• Work on special projects
