Description:We are seeking a self-motivated and eager individual to train as a Designer Assistant.
We are a small company of about 20 people. We design and make Juniors clothing in many categories including Knit Tops, Woven Tops, Active leggings, Sweatshirts/ Joggers etc. In addition, a big part of our fall business is Sweaters. We sell to stores that are young and extremely Trend driven. We are Trend focused and spend a lot of time shopping stores to make sure we are a head of our competition.
Our internships are technically unpaid. However, we offer to pay for the NYC monthly Metro card ($127), we will give a stipend of $10 per day to cover lunch, and fill out any forms you need to get credits for school.
We are seeking a full time intern, Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm. However, we understand if you are working part time or need some flexibility, just let me know and we will see if we can work it out.
Our goal is to train you to become valued Design Assistant, so by the time you finish this internship, you will be fully prepared to enter the work force. Our company is small enough so that as an intern, you will see how the full cycle of how an apparel business is run. You will see the full process from sample development, thru production, fittings, shipping and all the way in to the stores. You will have the opportunity to see and learn more at a smaller company like ours. Where, at a larger company, you will be focused in one category and not be exposed to the full process.
Requirements:Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel.
Must be working towards a Bachelors degree in Fashion or related Design field.
Must be organized and self motivated.
Responsibilities:As an intern, your duties would include, but not be limited to:
-Sketching flats on Illustrator.
-Help to create and recolor prints
-organizing samples in the show room
-organizing fabric qualities and trim qualities
-prepare swatches to be sent over seas
-Measuring garments and preparing tech packs
-lab dip comments and approvals
-Make pricing charts in Excel.
-researching trends and shopping in stores
