Believe it or not, there are opportunities in other cities to work in fashion, although they aren’t as abundant. I discovered the Chicago Fashion Foundation via-Twitter, and I wanted to share with my Chicago readers, as it helps bring these opportunities to life.

The Chicago Fashion Foundation is a dynamic group of working professionals and students committed to supporting Fashion in Chicago. They are made up of an eclectic mix of women and men encompassing every aspect of the Fashion Industry from designers to manufacturers to stylists to fashion writers & editors to accountants and lawyers.

What their members have in common is a love of fashion, knowledge that Chicago is an incredible city of style and a commitment to promote Chicago’s Fashion Industry worldwide.

They host networking events, panels with speakers, and hold an annual scholarship competition for design students in Chicago. Some recent events include networking events, a fashion show, and seminars.

Whether it be with looking sleek in that Herve Leger bondage dress (thanks, Spanx!), or with your, ahem, finances, there is nothing wrong with a little support. Granted, Kim of the Real Housewives of Atlanta has taken “support” to a whole new level in more ways than one, but what’s an aspiring fashion editor to do when they have the drive, but not the funds? New York is an expensive place, especially when you’re making $0.00 at work.

Your personal Big Poppa has entered the building. Ed2010 is here to be a few lucky magazine intern’s “Big Poppa,” or “Big Ed” for a spring or summer semester. Formally called the Ed Trust Fund, the kind-hearted people over at ED2010 will be awarding $1,000 dollars to a few unpaid magazine interns to help cover the high costs of interning in New York City.

Need it for rent? Ok. Planning on crashing with a relative, so you need help covering your plane ticket? No problem. Lusting after those perfect-for-work-Louboutin’s, but don’t have enough cash? Probably not the best idea, but you get the picture. The prize can be used to cover any expense that you may incur while being a magazine intern in New York City.
